Abstract
My thesis paper briefly analyzes the political history of Venezuela to determine whether or not all that much has changed since the downfall of the Democratic Action and COPEI political parties. I've examined the current developments and political state of Venezuela under the presidency of Hugo Chavez to determine whether the principles of democracy and constitutionalism are reality or illusion. Finally, my paper deals with Chavez and his party's grip on power and how this will affect the future of Venezuela as a free and democratic republic.
